I thought I'd grind out an end of the month, end of winter, daylight savings begins, blog entry.
The Northern winter is going to be interesting.
Aotearoa went into lock-down just before the winter moved in, and it’s allowed us to emerge from the colder months pretty much unscathed. Even the flu was less of an issue this year.
Unfortunately Europe and the U.S. are heading into their winter with Covid barely under control.
The problem for Australia with the conspiracy theorists, is that the country started off the pandemic with such a wishy-washy weak position, that's allowed the crazies to get their foot in the door.
I’ve been watching the Qanon protests that have been popping up over the winter.
I feel that anti-vaxxers are mostly gutless wonders spreading their poison online and at dinner parties.
There aren't that many of them showing up in public. In a first for me, I'm going to support the Ozzie cops renown penchant for brutality
The U.S. is dropping into a feedback loop of fear and loathing.
America's only real chance was to shut down New York in the beginning, like the Chinese shut down Wuhan.
In NZ we recently had a second outbreak that needed to be squashed. It seems to have appeared spontaneously. I reckon it’s moving about in the ‘sub society’. Where criminals and illegal residents live.
This was always going to be the problem for the U.S. They have spent so much effort persecuting illegal aliens, that it would be almost impossible to control the whole population with a single comprehensive lock-down.
Here in Aotearoa, Retail and hospo in the city centers are doing it tough due to the number of people working from home.
Retail and hospitality in the suburbs and regions are doing quite well though.
