Sunday covid 19 update : This was going to be my ‘Trump won’ post.
But now I’m blogging about ‘how come the Democrats almost lost, again’.
Turns out the only thing that pundits were correct about, was that Democrats liked to vote by post.
This whole President Trump episode has some useful outcomes
We now have a much better idea of how many ‘ugly Americans’ there are.
A shit-tonne is the official count.
Trump has done the world a great favour in ‘outing’ this crowd.
Much like Pauline Hanson did in Oz.
A lot of these cowards know exactly how dark their inner thoughts are, and they needed a leader to guide them out into the light.
Seventy million registered voters in America not only believe Trump would continue to be a good president, they believe he has been a good president. It's all very interesting. They seem to be literally in love with him.
The next 4 years...
'Bindin is the president, but he is hobbled by a republican senate'.
Don’t care. They can soil their own sandbox as much as they like. The Pres. handles foreign policy so at least the Americans will reduce their fucking-over of everyone else on the planet.
Well, most of their traditional friends anyway :-)
The Americans want a war with someone. it's not going to be China because the Americans are in major ‘school ground bully’ mode, and they're not going to take on somebody that they might actually lose against. So my bet is that it's going to be Iran.
Last time the Americans were 'great' they had a 'big bad' that they could focus on. In those days it was Russia. They need to find a new one now that Russia is their new BBF. I guess it's the Chinese then.
Last time America was great. Europe and Asia were financially shattered by a world war and everyone owed them money, so 'Merica is going to have to find a way to destroy these economies.
When people are afraid, they mentally move to the Right. The population of the U.S.A. is now so scared and angry that social disruptions are going to be pretty much the norm.
The Republicans have now become the party of the blue-collar worker. Talk about the fox being in charge of the chicken house.
The problems with getting rid of coal and oil production are the same that the British had under Thatcher. A large group of people are dependent on these industries and very few of them care about environmental damage, or that their industries are contracting or are inefficient.
An even larger group have some sort of religious belief system, which does not encourage an expansive world outlook. The sheer number of Christians, prepared to put up with his bullshit, just to further their ends, is also fascinating.
The farming sector has been artificially supported for so long, that mentioning a ‘free market’ freaks them out.
People seem to like a president who doesn’t come across as particularly intelligent. George W. and Clinton both got two terms.
This isn’t just a problem in the U.S. In Oz the voters much preferred Bob Hawke over Paul Keating. The current Prime minister has a marketing background, so... you know...
Considering that other minorities have felt disenfranchised for centuries. It’s pretty funny hearing that some Republicans are never going to vote again. They feel that the system is obviously ‘stacked against them’.
Trump’s election congregations seem to be virus super spreader events. There might even be some deaths?,
Does this mean that next election less republicans will be voting.
The basic problem that I see with the Dems, is that because the Left does ‘hope’ rather than ‘fear’, they are having difficulties relating to the Right. I think the Left needs to do more to understand what's motivating people in a ‘right wing’ frame of mind.
