Timelapse

I've posted my latest time-lapse piece to YouTube so I thought I'd write a little bit about the process.

It's also interesting how long it's taken YouTube to deliver reasonable quality videos.

I have two cameras that have time-lapse functions. A Pentax W10, and a Ricoh GX100.
These two cameras take full frame photos at regular intervals and dump the images to SD cards.

The Pentax is 6 mega pixels and the Ricoh is 10. This results in really high quality (and high rez) images that I then suck into Adobe After Effects.
In AE I can pan and zoom with great quality thanks to the high rez of the images. I turn on the ‘frame blending’ to smooth out the motion.

The videos are all 30fps, and some captures have each frame played twice, some three times. Depends on what looks good.
