Sunday covid 19 update : Bit o education rant

It became apparent to me during the shutdown how dependent Uni’s are on international students.
The commodification of ed has been on my mind for a while now. Just last week I questioned the value of a degree while chatting with a mate.

In this country, the government is actively encouraging kids to learn a trade instead of earning a degree and a burden of debt.

There are a lot of locals pissed off with these two women who decided that visiting their dying relative was more important than everybody else in the country.

Also found it interesting that a member of the opposition party in this country, knew more about the women's movements than the dept. of health.

The women in question obviously lied about their trip. So who spilled the beans to the opposition party member? Was it the people the women asked for directions? Was it a family member at their eventual destination?

Interesting that people are prepared to risk their own lives and others to commemorate a dead person. There was a lot of angsty whining all through the lockdown from funerals being banned.

I seem to be less worried about the ‘Black lives matter’ protestors. They all did the hard yards during the shut-down. Since the country has hit Level one, there have been sold out concerts and footy games with so far no new Covid cases.

These two women who had recently left the U.K. where the virus is barely under control, to travel the length of the North Island have made me more than a bit cranky.
