Timing is everything when leaving the party before everything goes pear shaped.
When Trump was first elected, queries on the NZ immigration website jumped. That would have been the time to move.
Recently it’s jumped again.
This time it’s too late. The U.S. reaction to Covid has closed the door to anyone wanting to escape the madness.
Same thing with Hong Kong. The time to leave would have been soon after the British transfer back to China. It’s too late now.
Even if the U.K. (and for some bizarre reason Australia, the home of offshore refugee storage???) allowed a Hong Kong resident the ability to immigrate, the Chinese government isn’t letting them go anywhere.
That is unless you’re a billionaire. Then you can go where you want, when you want.
The rest of us are screwed.
I hear that if you have 10 mil in the bank, Kiwi land will welcome you with open arms.
