All this talk about Russian men being mobilised is a bit boring for me.
What I’m interested in is the number of Ukrainian women I see defending their country on the front lines.
That is probably the best reason why Ukraine is pwning Russia.
What we are watching is the fall of an old corrupt Soviet power, and the emergence of the new more unified and energised country that is Ukraine.
Russians like to portray themselves as comparable to the USA. They are not. They are of the same ilk as the U.K. An old school power on the wane.
China, with its complete commitment to growth and power, has more in common with the US than Russia does.
Borders are a human construct (like money and religion). They don’t form a magic barrier between countries.
Borders need to be recognised to be effective. Russia disregarded the imaginary Ukraine borders when it invaded their neighbour.
If Ukraine doesn't want to recognise a border created by Russian ‘annexed regions’, then the border doesn't exist.
Putin (much like Trump) seems to think that he can impose his will on our reality just by talking about it.
China is also a totalitarian state that controls its population with lies. Possibly why the Chinese react so weirdly when they make announcements to the rest of the world, and everyone's reaction is to ask to see some proof.
Hi Russia, I was just chatting to Catalonia, and would like to be free of their spanish overlords. Could you pop down there and help them out?
Also there have been separatist whinings in Quebec, Texas and Queensland.
