Dave's compact camera concept (intro)

I've been pondering the Scarlet 1.0.
It was pretty much a perfect cam for me.

Scarlet 2.0 is cool too, and I'll probably end up buying it as an SLR purchase.
That said, I miss (what I perceived as) the 'compact' nature of the first Scarlet spec.

I've been thinking bout what I would want from a 'compact' camera.
  • big lens
  • big battery
  • big screen
  • compact enough to carry around all day

What follows is some 3d doodles that I've been fooling around with.

This is a view from the front.

A: Three large user configurable dials for focus, iso, mode, whatever. Wrapped around a large lens/imaging chip assembly

B: The point of having the battery 'out board' is that it is detachable. like a power tool.
  • A variety of sizes and capacities can be slotted in
  • Quick swappable
  • Battery has thread underneath for tripods
C: Handle housing logic boards, two SD card slots, and a large flip out screen.

Screen
Non-shooting mode. flips up for 'review mode' so operator can scan edit and review footage, set up functions, etc.

The screen rotates around the lens barrel for Portrait/landscape shooting. Also handy for lefties.

Battery
Multiple sizes and shapes can be attached to base of cam.
