Here I've illustrated a possible series. The hour or so, nine to five, and 24 hour party people.
Lens
Zoom mechanism that moves within the barrel
Auto everything with manual overrides

Lens cover

• Slides over the barrel and protects the lens and the three function dials
• Keeps the screen pinned to the side of the handle
• Could be tethered or not, to allow user to slide cover into storage

Users action could be:

• Take battery out of jacket pocket and attach to base of cam
• Slide lens cover off, and put into jacket pocket.
